Mission Statement:

The Tiffin Community Foundation is a community trust for charitable and educational purposes to assist and promote the well-being of the citizens of the City of Tiffin and Seneca County, Ohio.

TCF History

The Tiffin Community Foundation was founded in 1983 by Attorney Charles D. “Bud” Hering, Jr. with the assistance of Warren Kahn of Fifth Third Bank. Since its founding, TCF has grown to include more than 100 funds and has approximately $30 million in assets. Because of the generosity of donors in our community, TCF has awarded over $15 million in the last forty years. Also attending the first meeting were the following charter foundation trustees: Mrs. Jane Frost Kalnow, Mr. Gordon C. Wagner, Mr. Fred Corbin, and Mr. Fred Spurck.

    Jodie is a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and Tiffin University. She and her husband Charlie, live on a small farm in Seneca County. Both of their sons are also living in Tiffin with their families. “We love this community and we are thrilled that our sons are back and that they too are committed to making Tiffin the best it can be.”

    Lucy is a native of Tiffin, where she graduated from Calvert High School and attended Tiffin University. After being away for 37 years she is happy to be back home. “It is wonderful to see and experience all of the amazing things that are happening in my hometown.”

    • Andrew Stephey Andrew Stephey

      Andrew Stephey

      Chairman

      Andy is an owner/agent at UIS Insurance & Investments and works primarily out of their Tiffin office handling his own book of business as well as managing the agency’s sales team. Originally from Wauseon, Ohio, he graduated from BGSU with his bachelor’s degree. Andy has been a licensed insurance professional since 1994 and has continued his professional development obtaining many insurance related designations – AFIS (Agribusiness & Farm Insurance Specialist), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), CRM (Certified Risk Manager) and LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow). Andy has served on many boards of the years including the Tiffin-Seneca United Way, the Tiffin-Seneca Chamber of Commerce and the Tiffin Rotary Club. He also served 30 years as a member of the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard retiring at the end of 2021. Andy and his wife Heidi (a life-long resident of Tiffin) have four children – Madison, Eden, Anna and Mitchell. “I am focused on being a good steward of the foundation’s assets and am excited to assist with achieving the philanthropic goals of all our funds.”

      Tim is the Chief Financial Officer at Tiffin Metal Products Co. where he has worked since 1994. He has lived in Tiffin most of his life and is a 1985 graduate of Calvert High School. After graduation, Tim attended The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor Degree with a major in Accounting, and Heidelberg University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Tim’s job experience prior to Tiffin Metal Products was in the Toledo office of the accounting firm Ernst & Young, and as an internal auditor for Wendy’s International in Dublin, OH. Tim has been involved with a variety of committees or boards in the community including the YMCA, United Way, Calvert Catholic Schools and the Business Advisory Committee for the Tiffin City Schools. Tim is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Tim is married to Catherine, and has five children, John, Catherine, Annie, Alice and Timothy. “I feel the Tiffin Community Foundation provides necessary assistance to many worthwhile organizations in the community. I have been guided since my childhood to give back to my community and am proud to follow others I have looked up to as a member of this board.

    • Jennifer Musgrave Jennifer Musgrave

      Jennifer Musgrave

      is a school counselor at Tiffin Columbian High School. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Jennifer joined the Tiffin City Schools in 2000 where she taught English/Language Arts at Columbian for 18 years. In 2018, she joined the student services team as a school counselor primarily assisting seniors with their college and career plans. Jennifer graduated from Wilmington College in 1998 with degrees in secondary education and English. In 2004, she earned a Master’s degree in Education from Heidelberg University.  In 2008, she became a National Board Certified teacher, and in 2020 earned a second Master’s degree from Heidelberg University in Counseling. 

      Jennifer serves as a priority lead for Northwest Career Ready (formerly known as the TCS Business Advisory Council). NCR’s mission is to implement cross-sector partnership strategies that create workforce development choices for students to master the employability skills and knowledge required to succeed in a career.

      Jennifer believes equal access to education along with school, business, and community partnerships can generate prevention and intervention opportunities against the barriers to a sustainable quality of life in our community. 

      Jennifer is married to Dr. Ryan Musgrave. They reside in rural Tiffin with their daughter, Emma Grace.

      Treasurer

      Neil is retired as President and CEO of AgCredit, Agricultural Credit Association, part of the national Farm Credit System serving 18 Counties in NW Ohio.  The farmer owned cooperative lends capital to farm families, agribusinesses, and rural home owners.  A graduate of The Ohio State University with a BS in Agriculture, Neil began full time farming in 1971.  With depressed farm commodity prices and high interest rates in the 1980’s, he began additional employment with American Standard, (1975), and with AgCredit, (1981), as a Loan Officer.  He was later promoted to Credit Department Supervisor, (1986), and CEO, (1991), serving nearly 20 years in that capacity.   While in the Farm Credit System, Neil served on the AgFirst District Health/Benefits Plan, Independent Associations Retirement Trust, the National Farm Credit Employee Benefits Plans, and the National Farm Credit Presidents’ Planning Committee.  Locally, he has been active with the Trinity Endowment Committee, Seneca County Agricultural Hall of Fame, and the Junior Fair Sale Committees.  Lifelong residents of Seneca County, Neil and Barb have two grown sons, Matthew, (Amy), and Brent, (Sherry), and three grandchildren.

      Mark Somodi

      Mark is Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of P.T. Services Rehabilitation, Inc., a Tiffin based rehabilitation company providing services to hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, industrial, and school settings in Ohio.  P.T. Services is a community-based organization providing rehab services supporting rural communities and establishing partnerships throughout the continuum of care.  P.T. Services is aggressive with helping healthcare providers establish rehab services and programming that meet the community’s needs while controlling overutilization and reducing cost. Mark is a graduate of St. Louis University, where he received his Bachelors in Applied Mathematics, Certificate in Business Administration, and Masters in Hospital Administration.  After which he receive his post-graduate, Ph.D., degree in Health Services Administration from Southwest University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mark has previously worked at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital in Wadsworth, Ohio and St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio prior to accepting a position with P.T. Services in 1995. Mark is an active member in the Tiffin community participating on several boards.  Mark is also an adjunct professor at Tiffin University’s MBA program teaching in the Health Care Administration concentration in the School of Business. Mark lives in Tiffin with his wife Amy and four children.

    • Dr. Robert H. Huntington Dr. Robert H. Huntington

      Dr. Robert H. Huntington

      Dr. Huntington is the 14th president of Heidelberg University. He came to Heidelberg in 2009 after more than 22 years at Dunkin’ Brands, Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, he served as a member of the Board of Trustees for 11 years at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts. Born in 1955 in Minneapolis and raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon, Dr. Huntington is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Middlebury College, earning his undergraduate degree in political science and German. He went on to receive his master’s degree in German literature from Middlebury’s University of Mainz (Germany) program, his MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and his Ed.D. degree in higher education administration, planning and social policy from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. In the community, he serves on the Board of SIEDC and is a member of the Tiffin Rotary. Dr. Huntington is married to Dr. Susan McCafferty. They are the parents of two children, Ashley and Aiden.

      An Attorney at Law, James has been in private practice in downtown Tiffin for over 30 years. He has been an Acting Judge at the Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for over 20 years. He is also an Associate Professor of Business Law at Tiffin University where he also coaches the Men’s Rugby team  Jim is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and received his Juris Doctor Degree from The University of Toledo in Legal Education. He is a member of the Seneca County and Ohio State Bar Associations, The Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers (Board of Trustees), and Referee for the Ohio Department of Education. Jim is a provider of free legal services for area non-profits, churches, cemetery associations, and volunteer fire departments. James lives in rural Seneca County with his wife Anne, and his three kids Grant, Elise, and Chase.

    • Sara Riesen

      As a lifelong resident of Tiffin, Ohio, Sara has dedicated over two decades to the real estate industry, beginning her journey as a Licensed Realtor in 2002 and becoming a Licensed Broker in 2010. She co-owned Select Realty Group from 2012 to 2017 and has been serving as a Broker-Associate with CENTURY 21 Bolte Real Estate since 2017. In 2022, she was honored as the #1 Agent in Ohio for units sold for CENTURY 21 and has consistently been a top producer in Seneca County. Sara has had extensive community involvement, serving on the Salvation Army Board as a director, volunteering with the Tiffin-Seneca County United Way, and currently serving on the Ohio Realtors Legislative Committee and Steering Committee as well as on Croghan’s Colonials Board as a director. On a personal note, Sara was born, raised, and educated in the Tiffin area. She has two boys, Braden and Jace. When not working, she enjoys running, supporting local high school sports, and cheering for her favorite Cleveland sports teams. Sara says her “deep connection to Tiffin fuels my passion for giving back to our community, where I will be a good steward of the Foundation that works to enrich the lives of others.”

    • Char Pope Char Pope

      Char Pope

      Char, a retired educator, began her teaching career in the Tiffin City Schools. She held positions as a health and physical education teacher, guidance counselor, director of gifted education, and director of technology.  Additionally, Char coached multiple sports for many years. Following her career in public education, she worked as a consultant. During this time, Char traveled nationwide to help teachers integrate technology into their classrooms. Char grew up in Shelby, Ohio. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, and a Master’s degree from Bowling Green State University.  Much of her volunteering in the community has centered around playing the piano; whether it be at church, a Ritz production, or an assisted living facility.  Char also recently formed an 8-hand piano group (inspired by Yo-Yo Ma as a way of helping others cope with the pandemic) which has delighted online listeners across the country.  Char is a member of the Tiffin Rotary Club, serves on the Board of the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, and has served on Heidelberg’s Institutional Research Board.  Char is married to Dan Pope and has two stepchildren, Lydia and Adrian.  “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside my colleagues on this Board as we do this important work to enrich our community,” she notes.
